It is added to covering and modeling materials to keep them flexible yet firm for modeling. It helps maintain the desired density even after adding liquid coloring. It can also be used as an adhesive.

Usage (adhesive): 25 parts water to 1 dl of Tylose (CMC) powder. Stir the water with Tylose powder and let it sit overnight in the refrigerator.

Usage in gumpaste production: 500 g powdered sugar, 4 tablespoons of water, 1 tablespoon of glucose, 1 teaspoon of Tylose powder. Mix half of the powdered sugar with Tylose (CMC) powder in a bowl. Heat the water, dissolve glucose in it, then add the powdered sugar with CMC powder. Finally, add the rest of the powdered sugar. Knead the mixture until a modeling paste is formed.
